Bali is changing before our eyes.
You may have seen headlines around Deforestation and a garbage crises across land, rivers, and ocean. Traditional knowledge disappearing. What is the link between Bali’s ecological unravelling and the forgetting of the knowledge that once held it? And what are the local regenerative movements that are doing the work of remembering?
On June 5, we’re joined by Sayu Komang — a permaculture practitioner, community educator, and regenerative agriculture advocate who has spent more than 23 years working alongside farmers, foragers, and local communities as Bali’s landscape transformed around them. She is the spokesperson for Bibit Pusaka, a Slow Food Community of women farmers dedicated to cultivating and preserving Bali’s native seeds.
In her talk, Sayu will draw on her years on the ground to share:
The most significant environmental shifts she has witnessed in Bali — and what they reveal about the deeper pattern
What regeneration actually means, its relationship with Balinese Traditional Knowledge (and how it differs from sustainability)
